I began playing Final Fantasy Tactics A2 again a couple of days ago, and I instantly remembered why I didn’t like it as much as I liked the first one.
I’m pretty sure that I am not the only person having a problem with Luso and the story of the second game, and I am aware that the complaints have all been made already (it is a couple of years old, after all), but I am still disappointed and I’d like to write a bit about it. Just makes me feel better.
I loved FFTA, and I am one of the few people who didn’t have a problem with the fact that you’re kind of playing the bad guy. I liked the idea and I liked the drama with the friends and the brother and such. Of course there were flaws, but as a whole, I really love this game, for both its story and gameplay, and it’s one of my personal favorites.
The second one has this really dumb and generic protagonist who isn’t really that important to the plot, an annoying sidekick and just a whole bunch of characters that are either chlichéd or just completely irrelevant. The gameplay was fine, I liked the new classes for the most part and I will always love Bangaas, but damn is the story boring. I played the whole thing twice, but I can’t remember anything about it. I thought that maybe I’d like it a bit better now after some time has passed, but it’s still annoying. I just wanted to get that off my chest, you can go back to scrolling through your dashboard now.
